The Blue-faced Honeyeater, also known as the Banana-bird, is found across northern and eastern mainland Australia—from the Kimberley region in Western Australia to near Adelaide in South Australia—as well as in Papua New Guinea, thriving in open forests, woodlands, coastal heathlands, and urban parks. It feeds primarily on insects and other invertebrates, but also consumes nectar and fruit from native and exotic plants, often foraging in noisy flocks that exclude other birds from feeding areas.
