The Chestnut-breasted Manikin (or Munia) is a small, seed-eating finch found across northern and eastern Australia, as well as in Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, New Caledonia, and introduced populations in French Polynesia and France. It primarily feeds on grass seeds, especially from reeds and cereal crops, but also consumes insects and other small invertebrates, often foraging in flocks in wetlands, grassy woodlands, and agricultural areas.
