The Double-barred Finch, also known as the Owl Finch, is a small, social bird native to northern and eastern Australia, inhabiting dry savannahs, tropical grasslands, shrublands, and open woodlands from the Kimberley region across to Queensland and down to northern New South Wales. It is primarily granivorous, feeding on grass seeds, millet, and sprouted grains, but also supplements its diet with greens and occasional insects like termites or fly pupae.
