The Eastern Spinebill is a small honeyeater with a long, fine down-curved bill and energetic flight, found mainly east of the Great Dividing Range from Cooktown in Queensland through New South Wales and Victoria to the Flinders Ranges in South Australia and Tasmania. It feeds primarily on nectar from tubular flowers such as grevilleas, banksias and epacrids (and will also take exotic flowers like fuchsias), and supplements its diet with small insects, often feeding while perched or hovering.
