The Grey Shrike-thrush is a melodious songbird found throughout Australia (excluding the most arid regions), Tasmania, southern New Guinea, and nearby offshore islands, inhabiting forests, woodlands, and scrublands. It has a varied diet that includes insects, spiders, small mammals, frogs, lizards, birds’ eggs and young, and occasionally carrion, fruits, and seeds, foraging on the ground and tree trunks near fallen logs.
