The Red-browed Finch, also known as the Red-browed Firetail, is a small, social bird found mostly east of the Great Dividing Range, from Cape York in Queensland to the Mount Lofty Ranges in South Australia, often inhabiting grassy areas with dense understorey near creeks and rail corridors. It feeds primarily on grass seeds and small insects, foraging on the ground or perching on seeding grass heads, and is often seen in flocks or associating with other small birds like fairy-wrens.
