The Tawny Frogmouth is a nocturnal, owl-like bird found throughout mainland Australia and Tasmania, inhabiting a wide range of environments including forests, woodlands, heathlands, and urban areas. Its diet consists mainly of nocturnal insects such as moths, beetles, and caterpillars, along with spiders, worms, slugs, and occasionally small mammals, reptiles, and frogs, which it captures by pouncing from perches or snatching in flight.
