The Tomtit is a small, stocky robin endemic to New Zealand, occurring across the North and South Islands and several outlying islands including the Chathams, Snares and Auckland Islands. It feeds mainly on insects and other small invertebrates, foraging from perches and by gleaning in vegetation, and will take fruit and seeds as seasonal supplements.
